Nine Pediatricians Join the Faculty of Brenner Children’s Hospital

Brenner Children’s Hospital, part of Wake Forest University Baptist Medical Center, has announced the appointment of nine physicians to its faculty.

Amanda Cook, M.D. completed her medical training and residency at Wake Forest University’s School of Medicine and a pediatric cardiology fellowship at Duke University. She is a pediatric cardiologist and will work with the Heart Center at the children’s hospital.

Derek A. Williams, D.O. earned a degree in osteopathic medicine from Kirksville College, completed his residency at Albany Medical Center and his pediatric cardiology fellowship training at Vanderbilt University’s Hospital for Children. He is a pediatric cardiologist and will work with the Heart Center at the children’s hospital.

Pamela F. Bensimhon, M.D. received her medical degree at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine, completed her residency at the Medical Center and her fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center. Dr. Bensimhon is a pediatric oncologist/hematologist.

Ricardo A. Caicedo, M.D. earned his medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed his residency and fellowship training at Shands Children’s Hospital in Florida. Dr. Caicedo is a pediatric gastroenterologist.

John E. Fortunato, M.D. comes to Brenner Children’s Hospital from Johns Hopkins University, where he completed both his residency and fellowship training. He earned his medical degree from Tufts University School of Medicine. Dr. Fortunato is a pediatric gastroenterologist and has opened the Southeast’s only motility clinic to help children suffering from digestive problems.

Heather Furlong, M.D. earned her medical degree and completed her residency training at the University of Louisville, Ky. She completed her fellowship training at the Medical Center. Dr. Furlong is a pediatric neonatalogist and will work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Brenner Children’s Hospital.

Kelly A. Rouster-Stevens, M.D. joined the faculty in September. She earned her medical degree at the University of Cincinnati, completed her residency at Wake Forest Baptist and completed her fellowship training at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. Rouster-Stevens specializes in pediatric rheumatology.

Qing Yang, M.D., joined the faculty in July. She earned her medical degree at the Medical College on Ohio, completed her residency at Kansas University Medical Center and her fellowship training at Duke University Medical Center.Yang is a neonatalogist and will work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Brenner Children’s Hospital.

Raghu Turebylu, M.D. graduated from medical school in India and completed four years of fellowship training in neonatal-perinatal medicine at the University of New York at Buffalo, and a residency at the University of Buffalo. Turebylu is a neonatalogist and will work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at Brenner Children’s Hospital.
